You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression

True! Most of the time the first impression is the correct one.

Let me give you an example. I had a recruiter contact me very late and ask if I could do an early morning meeting the next day. I said yes. They said they would send the invite and I went to bed. I woke up early and no invite had been sent. In fact they missed the meeting they asked me to attend the night before.

When recruiters don’t attend a meeting they invite me to, it is the end of working with that recruiter. It shows me that they don’t take my time seriously and that is a problem. I have been treated the same way by recruiters. I have had recruiters send me an invite to an interview during the time of the interview. Then tell me that I missed the interview and they are no longer interested in me. Ok.

This isn’t about being a recruiter, its about being a person who values other peoples time and keeps your promises. What kind of professional ghosts their appointments? Not a professional in my book. Its ok that life happens but if you realize you can’t do an appointment for whatever reason then communicate that to the other person before the time of the appointment. I was ready for my appointment but once again the other party wasn’t.

Its ok. Its no skin off of my teeth. I am glad to not work with unprofessional people. There is too much opportunity to accept people who don’t respect your time.
