Testing out Mumu Android emulator

Why am I testing out another Android emulator? Didn’t I just say that LDPlayer seemed fine?

Yes it is fine, but I also shared that it had some flaws/bugs. However what prompted me to look at another emulator is that when the game said it needed to be updated, the LDPlayer custom store didn’t have the updated game file.

Now I am a simple guy. I like things to be from the original sources were possible. I thought that the LDStore was just a skinned interface and not a separate thing from the Google Play store, but apparently it was. I did some research and Mumu seemed to be the best next choice for emulation.

It was easy to install and it had a Google Play store. I immediately downloaded the newest version which also eliminated the funny commercial BS branding that LDPlayer did. I have been using it since yesterday and so far no errors/bugs have shown up. To me this is an improvement and worth keeping.

To be fair when I clicked on it this morning it was non responsive but I closed and opened it back up and it was immediately responsive. In comparison on the iPad the game would give an error and then I’d waste a minute closing the game and reopening and it would slowly come to life. A similar error would occur with LDPlayer. This was the fastest it booted up and the first real error. I would blame the game for not properly shutting down/timing out after no activity.

The performance I think is faster than LDPlayer, and to me it looks better as well. Admittedly I can’t see very well with glasses, but I noticed that some of the characters were reflecting in a way that I hadn’t noticed before.

This is still made with a Chinese company, and so I can’t recommend using Microsoft Authenticator for business purposes with it. However for personal use it might be fine, and I will set it up and test it. I will delete LDPlayer once that MFA is setup.

If you test things in your life, you often find that you can find a solution to a problem. We just have to overcome laziness and inertia which makes us want to stick with what we know even when it doesn’t help us.
