One day I went inside a restaurant to cool off from my walk. It was a typical restaurant, nothing special. I ordered $6 of drinks/fruit and made small talk with the waitress. I didn’t think much about it, and I joked with her about the small talk we made. I left and left a $4 tip on the bill.
I looked at my charges on my debit card a week later and I noticed that I had only been charged for the $6 for my food. The $4 tip didn’t go through. I thought about it and realized that even though I wrote it on the bill the waitress didn’t apparently want it. I had never had a tip refused, but I can understand why. She seemed glad to talk to me and said it was a slow day. Sometimes being yourself is enough.
