As a kid I saw people on TV who were intelligent, funny and used their fame to help others. I wanted to be like that when I grew up.
I don’t know how successful I have been, but I have attempted to emulate that.
One of the first people I saw as a child who was someone that I wanted to be like was Fred Rodgers. I also liked Dick Cavett. I tried to be clever like Paul Lynde. I loved so many entertainers that I later found out had hidden their private life. David Pierce “Niles” from Frasier. David Stiers “Major Winchester” from M.A.S.H. So many.
Why am I sharing this? I watch lots of random YouTube videos and I most often see a lack of character. I was thinking this morning of a show where people can keep up to a million dollars or share it with others. Some people take an unfair share of money and I can’t help but think how selfish they are. Everyone has the right for financial security, but in their greedy and selfish mind, they deserve it more than others.
When I see people who are generous, kind and who give and help others I can’t help but feel good about humanity. I see that often in people who overcome struggle and who bring joy to others.
We need to value people who bring joy and helpful things into our lives. We need to eliminate people who sow chaos and destruction. Your growth in wisdom is making everyone life better, not just your own.
