If you play Android games on your Mac, you may be considering Mumu or Crossover.
Why would you choose to play Android games? Lets say you had an Android phone and liked the game but you got a non Android phone and want to continue to play. Or in my case you tried an Android emulator and liked a game that didn’t have a mac version.
Now you have two excellent options. I have tried both and here are my thoughts.
MuMu is nice in how it shows a virtual environment like you would expect to see on a regular hardware Android phone/tablet. It looks nice and works well and for about $72 is a great bargain.
CrossOver doesn’t show you the Android interface it uses some magic called Rosetta and shows you the game as though it were mac Native. Now so far this has been stable but theoretically it might be less stable than MuMu. I have used MuMu for 8 months and never had an problem on Windows, and using it on Mac I expect the same experience.
However with CrossOver you have better windows management since it is native. You can resize the window easily and for me that is the reason why I will stay with it. I really like being able to resize the window to whatever I want. Even though I paid for MuMu I will pay for CrossOver. Plus if CrossOver is unreliable I can immediately turn on MuMu and continue playing. Plan B. Probably overkill for most people but it works for me.
The costs so similar its a non issue. The graphics quality looks great with both of them. It is only the window management that makes me switch from MuMu. If you don’t care about that which you may not, then either would work well. I used Crossover years ago and it wasn’t stable then so I hope it is stable now. If it is after the trial period I will buy it. If not, welcome MuMu back into my life.
