Operation “no heater” failed last night

Cat Loves Electric Heater

I tried an experiment last night. Usually, I would have an electric heater in the living room to maintain at least a 70-degree temp. Last night I turned it off to see if I would be ok. I was not.

I woke up cold in the middle of the night and turned on the heater. When I woke up this morning the apartment was warmer. That was much nicer. I don’t like to be cold and the law says that in NYC it has to be 62 degrees at night and 68 during the day. That is outside my comfort zone. I tend to prefer 73 and I don’t mind paying more to stay in that range.

Why am I sharing this with you? Mostly to share that in life experimenting is helpful. Just because you do something in one way isn’t the most efficient way to do it. Each day I like to experiment with something and that is the reason why I have bought many things in the past. I am really curious to understand things at a deeper level. I learned last night that I was not warm enough to be able to not have at least one heater going when it is below freezing outside.

I shared earlier that I was a fat kid and one of the downsides that I experienced when I lost that weight in puberty is that I was colder than I was as a kid. I don’t mind the tradeoff of being colder if that means I am healthier. I can understand why people become fat. It is comfortable to be fat in many ways. You don’t get as cold. You are generally more comfortable in terrible furniture like they have on public transportation and at work. You tend to get sympathy and delicious food gifts from coworkers when you are sick. Everything has a pro and a con.
