This may come off as bragging but I am trying to use myself to make a point.
I tend to inspire people to trust me. This happens in both my personal and professional life. Why am I sharing this? Once you lose peoples trust you are done in their relationship with you.
For example once I worked in a company and there was a need to move a large sum of cash legitimately between two locations. The boss asked me to do this. Ok. I did it. It felt good that I was trusted this way.
Now I had a coworker who once was discovered by her manager using company resources on a Sunday. This was an accidental discovery but it ruined the managers trust in her. She was soon let go.
You only get once chance for people to trust you. Don’t ruin your long term relationship with them for a short-term gain.
