No, writing about Mormonism didn’t help my AdSense

I just did it yesterday so if it does have an impact it may take a moment to show up.

One of the faults I had about writing about Mormons in the past is calling them LDS. LDS is their preferred name, but the keyword payouts are on the words Mormon. Clearly LDS know that non LDS only want to call them Mormon.

Out of the 7 articles I wrote, most of them had average views. Two of them had about 200 views which is above average for me. I wonder if that has to do more with the timing than the subject. One of them was more details about relationships, and the second one was why I was learning more about that faith.

I am not shopping for a religion. I am doing a test. The payouts for Mormon keywords are extreme. As extreme as payouts for financial products and services. They will pay $24 for certain keywords and if you are a Mormon woman in low cost Utah, that is far more than you could make at a regular non skilled job.

Part of this website was the hope that I would share things that would be useful to others and I could have a passive income. I have focused on things that have value over time, so I tend not to write about current events that can be dated. Still you have to write about some of those or you seem out of touch. Then I will purge those articles when they are no longer useful. To be honest, having a website perhaps has broken even. You could argue that it helps me get jobs, but its also possible it costs me jobs.

Why? I am sure that some of the topics that I write about might be perceived negatively by some recruiters or hiring managers. You can’t appeal to everyone, so I accept that. I share what I think can help others, and for some people that is a problem. You have to learn in life that you won’t please everyone so you shouldn’t try.
