Until this morning I was using Crossover for mac gaming for Survival Z a mobile game on my mac. This morning the program wouldn’t start and troubleshooting it with Gemini didn’t solve it. I tried to go to its website to download a fresh copy but the website said it shut down because of the potential hack to it. Yikes. Does not fill me with confidence.
So I turned on Mumu emulator and played it. I had to update the version I had used since I hadn’t used it for 9 months but it worked great. I was so glad that I had the Mumu backup so I wasn’t stressed trying to setup 3 accounts for it.
Now this means that formerly I liked Crossover because it was more efficient with memory with the previous macOS and with the current macOS Mumu is more efficient than Crossover. Things change and you always have to test and not assume.
Will I go back to Crossover? Its hard right now because the user experience was so rough. I had to use terminal commands which I don’t mind as an IT person, but the average person would. This means I can no longer recommend Crossover for the casual user. If something is that sensitive then perhaps its better not to use it. Being reliable is also important.
No I am not getting any benefit from writing this other than just to share that you have to have backups you can use of apps, and you have to be flexible in how you game.
