Loving someone harder doesn’t mean they will love you back.

We all make this mistake don’t we?

I tried to love someone harder when I felt they didn’t love me as much as I loved them. I foolishly thought that they would see how much I have done for them and love me.

I was wrong. Unfortunately we sometimes make mistakes and the people who we think love us don’t. Now we are certainly responsible for choosing them, just as they are responsible for their choices.

I can’t be mad when someone didn’t love me. Love is a gift and if they don’t want to give that, that is their choice. I should have been more honest with myself and stopped myself wasting time.

I think the other mistake that I made here is that we get invested in something and then it becomes a part of our identity. We think that love means that you stick through the hard times, and it does. However why would you stick through the hard times, when it was all hard times? Marriage vows say for better or for worse, and if there isn’t better, how is that love? We have to have the feeling and support of love, or the worse part doesn’t get to kick in.

Don’t misunderstand. I am not missing this person and I am glad that I learned this lesson. Yes I wasted time, but I also learned an important truth. If someone doesn’t give you their love, there is nothing you can do to get it.
