Life is uneven and we just have to deal with it

Life isn’t fair and sometimes it is really difficult, and sometimes it is really easy.

I can see from the media that I consume that almost everyone but the rich are having a difficult time in life. They are struggling, and often have two jobs and cutting back in every way that they can.

Now some people might consider me struggling as well. I had an unexpectedly large car repair bill yesterday and I haven’t been able to add to my savings in awhile.

I think we forget what life was like for our parents. They were able to save money regularly and didn’t have the kind of challenges that we face now. For the most part they were employed in a job as long as they wanted to be, and only switched jobs when it was good for them.

Now it is difficult for people with college degrees to get full time jobs, and/or not work in gig jobs like Uber or low pay jobs. I don’t envy anyone who has had to struggle to find a job. As a consultant I have been fortunate that companies will reach out to me to see if I am interested in them. This has only really happened in the last several years where this has been constant. Previous to this, I would get someone occasionally reach out to me but I guess there is a line in your career when you are good enough for most companies.

I wrote this to help you younger readers understand. I know your reality feels normal for you, but it is not. It is the result of greedy people, corporations and others who want to limit the opportunities for people. It is hard right now and if you can endure, you will one day be in a position to vote and make change that is helpful for more people than just the rich.
