In high school it will probably come as no surprise that I tell you I was heavily involved in drama. It was fun to be someone else sometimes.
One of the classes that the drama teacher also taught was Speech. This was interesting because we had speech elements in all of our English classes, so it was a little bit of duplication. Still I took that class because I liked the teacher and thought it would be fun.
An activity she asked the class to do was to take a 10 questionnaire and she asked us to talk to 1 person to get an answer for the question. Now this was pretty good because those questions were designed to get to know each other and they were friendly and nice. It was a nice team-building exercise.
Why does all this detail matter? Now you will know. For some unexplained reason, all of my classmates came at me to ask me the answer to one of the questions. Now I thought this was strange but I went with it, and started making the most ridiculous and funny answers that I could.
She collects the papers and is randomly sharing the answers with the class for each question. She gets to the question that I was asked by almost everyone, she says it and the entire class and her laugh at the response. She gets another paper and checks the same question and it is another funny response. She does this about 3 times and the class is just laughing and laughing. I am silent because I already laughed when I thought of the answer.
She asks one person who did you ask to get this answer and she says me. Everyone else said they asked the same question to me as well. Then I smile and the gig is up. I am guilty of making up funny answers and wasting 15 minutes in laughter.
I felt great knowing that I brought a little joy to my classmates. The teacher talked to me after class and said I was really funny and I told her that her standards are too low. If you can make others laugh you should do it, as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone.
