I have bought many kinds of Lapdesks to use my laptop on my lap, but they don’t really work.
The problem is that the heat from the laptop heats up the lapdesk and then my legs get warm. It doesn’t reduce the heat or manage it in any significant way.
I have tried laptop coolers that have a usb plug and have a fan to help keep laptops cool but those were clunky and didn’t keep the lapdesk cooler either and were just awkward to use.
I have spent lots of money on Lapdesks hoping that maybe a different design will have a better result, but they don’t. Eventually the heat gets to your legs.
Now part of my problem is that I am working and playing games also doesn’t help. After work of course! Then keeping a gaming laptop cool is an exercise in frustration.
For this reason having a mac can be nice to be cooler, but the metal frame can be uncomfortable when it gets too cold or too warm. We need a material that holds a specific range of temperature like 70-75 and that would be a breakthrough for laptops.
I am writing this because I see two Lapdesks on my backup desk and I have no use for them. I won’t sit on the couch with my laptop because the couch is cheap and not that comfortable. My desk chair is very comfortable and so I will sit on it every chance I get. The laptop is positioned perfectly and it stays cool to the touch.
Am I a nerd when you need a table to be happy with your laptop? Maybe I should try giving away the LapDesks next. They look new.
