I was contacted by a recruiter who had a job that I was perfect for. Then I was told that they needed someone who was security focused for the last ten years and even though I responded in detail how I was, I didn’t hear a follow up.
Which is fine. I am not perfect for every job. The problem is that recruiters want the impossible. They are attracted to your profile because of your skills, but then they are told they need additional requirements and because they haven’t read your LinkedIn profile they don’t think you have it.
This is not because I am mad I didn’t get the job. I am never mad when I don’t get a job. That is silly. You don’t get every relationship and you don’t need that either. Every recruiter/company has the right to choose whom they think will be the best.
I do find it funny however how often companies get it wrong. I have worked in many places and the employees could care less if things get done. They may have the paper qualifications, but not the desire to actually do it.
So when recruiters don’t want to give you a chance and talk to you so that you can explain deeper your experience, then good for you. You missed a relationship that started with people who couldn’t give you the time of day.
