Fig plant is doing ok

The fig plant is doing better than me.

With the slight change I made to the amount of sun a few weeks ago, it seems that it is still healthy and not showing any obvious problems.

I have also increased its watering schedule so that may have some effect as well.

The downside to me is that this has coincided with more sunny days than usual. Even before the change, when a sunny day happened I couldn’t use the screen. It was just way too much light for even a light rejecting screen to handle with the current projector.

So the fault isn’t the light rejecting screen, the weakness is the projector. It has about 1500 lumen which is on the low side. It makes sense since this was relatively cheap projector. Some very cheap projectors require darkness because the lumen are less than 500 and that is often less brightness than a good computer screen.

Now I saw two options I like very much. One is a $1800 Optima which has double the brightness output. Another is an Epson which had 4 times the brightness which would be incredible. Theoretically I could watch that during the brightest days. However that is $3k, and I am not sure that I can justify spending that.

Some projectors cost tens of thousands of dollars. I saw one that was $16k so relatively speaking these projectors are still on the cheap side. Then I have to think about what I get. I get a projector that is warranted to work for 3 years for 3k. Is 1K a year worth having the luxury of a screen that doesn’t hurt my eyes and is fun to play games on? I would say yes. It comes out to $2.7 dollars a day.

I still like my current projector and the responsible thing to do is wait until it breaks to get another one. Will I be responsible? Will I give this to a friend? Hmm, that is still to be determined.
