Doing nothing is sometimes the more helpful thing

Its hard to accept, but sometimes doing nothing is the most helpful thing you can do.

As people who like to solve problems we like to think that our intelligence, or skill fixes issues. It does. Yet, there are times when we get in the way of ourselves and we do things that don’t help us.

For example, I shared that I was using NoMachine to connect between my Windows 11 Pro desktop and my Linux computer. That way I could have the advantages I spoke about before. One of the downsides of this program is that sometimes it freezes on the Linux computer and then disconnects.

It doesn’t happen often, but it is kind of irritating so I tried changing all kinds of settings to see if it would help. It didn’t help. I suspect this is a problem with the way that Linux is displaying graphics and how the program expects it to be. My fix for this took 2 minutes to do.

Just on a lark I waited the next time the problem happened. It disconnected and then within 30 seconds reconnected. It was faster to do nothing, than to try to “fix” it.

What I should do I setup NoMachine on my other Windows 11 computer and if that disconnects from there, then it is probably an issue with the server aspect and not the client. I might do that today. Still there is no harm in waiting, and NoMachine has had several advantages to just using it directly.

I love fixing things, but sometimes you just need to wait and things will fix themselves.
