Deactivated my business page

I deactivated my business page on LinkedIn. It was time that I did so.

Why? First I only created it so that I could auto publish posts from my website. However the last two days my auto publishing plugin has had issues, and I needed to simplify the situation.

I contacted the developer and after giving him the diagnostic information he said that he hadn’t run into the situation before. I disabled one of my plugins that automatically grabs an image in the body and puts it as the main image. After I did that, it seemed to work fine.

Now I am not saying that the plugin was the cause of it, just that after doing that so far the issue has gone away.

However also last night I removed the business page that was linked to my profile, and I am glad that I did that. The main reason is that it brought me attention that didn’t help anyone.

For example, I would have people contact me thinking I was a business owner. As a regular IT joe, I often had to explain that I didn’t have a business but thank you for the interest. There was a steady stream of business proposals even though I clearly am no one and surprised that I got that interest.

Hopefully this will help the auto-publishing plugin work more smoothly but if not, at least I don’t have to look at something I never used anymore.
