Why would I do this? Because Gemini has helped me both personally and professionally better than ChatGPT.
I wrote about this earlier so I won’t rehash it. The reason I am sharing this now is that the trial month passed and when I went to login it demanded a credit card. I thought that I had used a credit card to set it up, but I gave it the CC and payed for a year for a discount of the monthly rate.
To me if you are using ChatGPT this represents a better value in both what it can do, and the fact that it works better most of them.
No I am not getting a benefit from sharing this. I used ChatGPT for years and was so frustrated with the almost constant errors it had. Gemini isn’t perfect. I’d say its biggest problem is just making stuff up but I can deal with that. I generally understand what I am asking, and if something feels off I verify it other ways.
I don’t trust Gemini more than Google search but it does save me time researching and finding answers. Before AI was here I would mostly use Google search and forums but now I haven’t had to do that for a long time. I don’t fully use AI for all research. I still double check things but I go to the source since I generally know where it is that has the information I wanted. Google search was for the infancy of my experience and now AI is for someone more experienced and better at detecting falsehoods.
I generally trust Wikipedia but I always carefully check the sources and go to the original source to verify. When you are doing things for professional reasons you never want to have to say “Gee guys I should have researched longer I have to change my opinion/recommendation.” I don’t say it professionally until at least 3 authorative sources agree. Don’t make laziness your excuse to not be professional.
