It has been my experience, that the people who reach out to you most aggressively tend to be the most disappointing.
Not just in jobs but also in life. Many times on dating sites and real life, someone who aggressively approaches you is experienced at approaching but poor at follow through.
Why am I saying this? I have recruiters who reach out to me and normally most recruiters reach out through one method. They either call, text, email or InMessage. Occasionally I get recruiters who do all of them and I know its probably not going to work out.
Now I understand that for urgent jobs recruiters are motivated to get someone ASAP. Totally get it. However I have had the experience that I have done everything they requested and even scheduled a meeting with them and their manager. Then 20 minutes before the meeting get a cancelation that the company has a new requirement. Great. Thanks for the waste of time.
Recruiters who do this don’t get a second chance with me. I understand that companies don’t always give all of the details, but when you waste peoples time, why would they give you a chance to waste their time again?
I don’t respond and say “Don’t message me again.” If they contact me again I will just say I am not interested and please don’t contact me again. You don’t spend energy on people who don’t care about your energy.
When your indifference hurts others, you are only hurting yourself.
