AI like ChatGPT/Copilot are unreliable and tell lies, but not using it is a bigger mistake.
Why do I say this? Today I took a thick PDF that was 50 pages and summarized it easily to a checklist that the client could do. The time it would have taken to do that before Copilot would have been hours, and it was done in a minute.
ChatGPT/Copilot are great at summarizing text. You double check the summary and ask yourself if it sounds reasonable, and randomly spot check the facts. If that works out then you accept that as part of your research.
When I used to use a search engine we had the same issues. We had to double check the source and if the information was out of date. Now we still use critical thinking skills, and carefully evaluate what we have learned.
AI is interesting and we need to understand how it works.
