Too big for shared WordPress hosting

When I moved to a new provider they asked how much traffic my site saw and how big it was. It is 3GB and I told them I have about 8k visitors a week. They suggested a shared solution.

It turns out that I quickly exceeded that CPU/memory limit of shared hosting plans. I moved up to the beginner VPS which is $180 a year still much cheaper than I was paying.

Now today that new VPS server is online. I don’t notice a difference in the speed of using it or administrating it, but hopefully the readers will. It is interesting how you have to change things between hosting companies. For example they don’t support one of my plugins and installed a different plugin and disabled the old one. Which is fine. That is better and cheaper for me.

Sometimes the cost of a website is all of the side plugins you need to support it.
