Recruiters are lying to have conversations

I had a recruiter lie to me yesterday in order to have a conversation with me.

When they first contacted me they said the title of the position, that it was remote and didn’t say the salary. That is not ideal, but I’ll give them a chance. When I spoke to them next they asked my salary, and I said NY law is to give a range and they gave one number which was close enough. Then they said the position was hybrid. I said I am not interested and nicely ended the conversation.

Listen recruiters, if you lie to me during our initial conversations then why would I trust you? You wouldn’t trust a candidate who lies to you, so why are you any different?

Recruiters are almost always frustrating and a waste of time to deal with. It doesn’t have to be this way. We can have win/win conversations if everyone can be honest. I am honest, and I expect the same.
