If money was no issue, I would have 7 different laptops each with a different OS. Here is what I would use.
Sunday – Mac OS
Monday – Windows 11
Tuesday – SUSE Linux
Wed – Nobara Linux
Thursday – Fedora Linux
Friday – Mint Linux
Saturday – iOS
Why would I do this? It is interesting and fun to use different software. I honestly feel a little bored when I use an OS for a long time. There are so many great versions of Linux that its hard for me to pick just one. I think however if I were forced to just use one Fedora would be my choice. It is so beautiful and works with lots of great software that many people use. I really like it.
Now why did I think of this? I was thinking of some of the Linux OS I had used the other day and it reminded me of the 10 Days of Christmas with the list I was thinking. Well I don’t want to use 10 OS, 7 is the max, but really 3 would be ideal. I think Windows/Mac/Fedora seem to suit me just fine and seem to be where I could get the most consulting bang for my time/effort learning them.
It has been so helpful in my career that I have had both Windows/Apple certifications and experience. If you can, learn as much as you can so that you can be as helpful as possible when you are an employee. It also makes your daily experience more fun when you aren’t stuck doing the same thing all the time.
