If you aren’t terrified with the direction the world is going, you aren’t paying attention.
There is an old saying. Life is a comedy to those who think, and a tragedy to those who feel. Each day brings us more absurd things, and more sad and unnecessary things that could have been avoided.
Change is hard. The United States has to grapple with its legacy of discrimination, and its attempts to correct that legacy. It has to come to terms with how we allocate resources, and why we are willing to sacrifice people so that rich people can have more money.
I wonder sometimes if the difficulty that we have as US citizens is because we have allowed our love of money to replace our love of people. I think that is why we see the decisions that are being made now. We think that we can run government as a business, when it has always been a service.
Watching what is going on is like when I was in a car crash. In slow motion everything happened and it was unreal. I knew what was going to happen, and yet I was powerless to do anything to change it. We are not powerless to affect change. We can maintain our attitude and not give up on democracy even when other people wish to destroy it.
The rich will not own the US. Not now, and not ever.
