You can easily set it up by watching this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qtm_evqIoJo – openSUSE Tumbleweed – How to access Remote Desktop RDP using XRDP
It gives you step by step to setup XRDP which works faster than the built-in VNC. VNC isn’t encrypted and has built-in security issues. XRDP is safer although if you are going to use it over the internet it should be tunneled in an SSH session or only within a private and dedicated encrypted connection.
It was neat to see my computer show up on my secondary computer screen. It didn’t use the same settings from the home folder which is ok. This kind of access is more for emergency access and/or special functionality. I didn’t use other remote connection software because it wasn’t open-source like XRDP. RDP has security issues so you need to be sure you understand the implications before using this. If you don’t understand it, this is a tempting way for hackers to easily take control because they do understand it.
It took less than 5 minutes while watching that video to set it up. It is best to go with software that has a community and support. No use in learning dead-end technologies. That is a trap that curious people easily fall into.
