I should get paid for what I have taught recruiters.
I had a recruiter reach out to me and say they were impressed with my profile and asked for my resume. After looking it over they concluded that I wasn’t right for the job because I didn’t have Autopilot experience. He said it wasn’t listed in my resume.
Now I am going to cut this person some slack because he was young, but if he can’t take some time to understand a little bit about the technology he isn’t going to be able to determine experienced from inexperienced people.
I have used Intune for 10 years, and Autopilot is part of how Intune works. Even reading one introductory explanation of Autopilot would explain that. He tried to disqualify me for a job that I am uniquely qualified for.
I can forgive one mistake. But he compounded it with another. When he shared the salary it was half of the salary I am currently making, and $20-$30 below market. I told him that was not market salary and said thank you for your time but I am not interested.
Almost as a rule 99% of the time I interact with recruiters I have to explain introductory things so that they see that I have the experience. Recruiters that contact me seem to only be able to match keywords and not really understand the technology that they are recruiting for. If the only value you bring is matching keywords, you will be out of a job soon.
