Time to use a humidifier

To deal with the dryness in my apartment, I bought a humidifier.

I have to be honest that humidifiers have been hit or miss in the past. Mostly miss. They require regular cleaning and its a pain to have to fill them manually. However the problem they solve is pretty important so I bought one and using it today for the first time.

The problem is the low humidity levels in my apartment. When I plugged it in it said it was about 30%. My lungs/throat feel irritated when the humidity is lower than 30% which has been most of my life since I grew up in a desert. Like most people we can sense the relative humidity in the air.

This machine has 6L of water which said it should run all day. That takes care of having to fill it up often. That was my number one complaint of past machines. My number two was how difficult they were to clean. This tank is rather large and should be easier to clean I hope than other brands I have used.

I am hopefully optimistic that this will do the job. So far I do notice a little bit more of a comfortable environment. It says it is in the 40% now and my lungs and nose don’t feel so irritated. A nice side effect would be not having to drink so much water.

Now longtime readers will remember that I have an air filter as well to improve the air quality. I put them about two feet from each other initially but then I did more research and placed them 3 feet apart. I don’t want them to interfere with each other which they could do if they were closer. I may still move the humidifier depending on how it works today.

The Air filter was showing a red ring which shows it is the most polluted it could sense. It showed a purple one earlier since I woke up. Showing second to most pollution. I checked a government air quality and it said that the air quality was worse than normal and that people sensitive to air pollution like me should limit their exercise and activities. I should have bought an Air Filter before to have the best self-care but I didn’t think that I needed it. I was wrong about that too.

Taking care of yourself is prioritizing your health and how you treat yourself in every dimension. It may seem like a luxury to have a humidifier but if it helps you be healthy and avoid sickness, it has paid itself off. I feel good about the increasing levels of humidity. I adjusted it to be at the max 50% which is what is recommended for best health. I can’t wait to see how differently I feel today.
