Things quickly lose their shine

I bought an expensive Logitech mouse a few years ago. It looked fine.

Now maybe 2 years later it looks terrible. Even though I clean it and air dust it, it looks like it is dirty and worn.

Now I don’t expect things to look new forever. However I also have had mice that stayed the same color for their lifespan until they broke.

Part of the problem is that the mouse said it was made in China. China doesn’t have the same safety laws that we do and is known for saving pennies by adding toxic chemicals into its products. I have no doubt that this mouse is toxic, and I am looking for a replacement.

Why does this bother me now and not when I bought it? I loved Logitech products in the past, but the more recent experiences have left me disappointed.

For example I shared that I had a matching Logitech keyboard that wasn’t cheap and I had no end of problems with it. It was really frustrating to use. I gave it away to a friend because it just wasn’t worth it anymore.

On Trustpilot the Logitech brand has a terrible rating. I read through the experiences of other owners and agree with them. I have bought other Logitech products in the last ten years and they all have had issues. Logitech used to be so much better than the alternatives and now its just cheap Chinese junk.

Now I told you that to tell you this. Don’t you think as a society we often fall for what looks shiny or new? Even though I had negative experiences with Logitech products for years, I still had hope they were a helpful brand. I was wrong. It doesn’t make me stupid to admit I was wrong. It would make me stupid to continue to buy products that are expensive that don’t work and last like older products used to.

Things change, and we need to recognize when something doesn’t work anymore. If something doesn’t work, we have to let it go and find a more helpful way to live. We can’t hold onto the past, even when it saves us time researching and thinking.
