Its funny. Often you can go years without needing something, but once you buy it, you need it immediately.
Remember how last week I shared I bought a mac computer? Well today I needed it to do my job.
The reason I needed it is because I needed to take the videos that I had shot that showed the end user experience and upload it to my work environment. However it was tightly controlled by security and I needed to compress the videos.
Quicktime couldn’t compress them enough to email them even when I went to its lowest setting. I needed to use Handbrake, and that meant that I needed to copy the files to another device.
I used Airdrop to move the files to my new mac and then used Handbrake to convert them to mpeg4. Then I was able to upload them to the company. It was a process for sure.
If I hadn’t had the mac I would have struggled to get a third party utility to move the files to my PC and then use handbrake there. I’m glad that I didn’t have to do that. If you are a consultant, you should probably always have a computer of each OS that are supporting just in case in addition to the ones they give you.
