Sweet exception for breakfast

Even though I am not craving sugar like I once did, I seem to always like eating fruit like blueberries and raspberries. That’s what I had for breakfast this morning.

Why am I sharing this? I think often in life we find things that we think we enjoy like sugar, but really what we want is the nutrients and experience that natural food brings.

No I am not here to lecture you on eating whole foods, but rather to share that as we experience life we have a chance to discover what really makes us satisfied and content. Rarely have I found something artificial that does that.

Another example would be breakfast bars. You know those bars that are usually sweet and made up with all kinds of ingredients? I like the convenience and variety, but increasingly I am getting bored with them. They no longer feel fun and I think its partly because they aren’t satisfying. If they are only a moment flavor and then still hungry, that seems like a waste of time to me.

It is understandable that when we feel stressed and are busy we reach for something prepared and ready to eat. Still I am moving away from that and enjoy spending a little time to make something more satisfying to eat. Some things are worth spending time on and nutrition is one of them.
