Sometimes you are given impossible situations

Once I was given an impossible situation. I was asked to test something and MS service that I would use to test that was broken.

I got up early in the morning hoping that it was fixed but it was still an issue. Searching for an answer, I found that now I only had 9 choices of something else that might do the job, and I could only pick one of them. So if I was wrong, it wasn’t going to work and my boss wasn’t going to be happy or the client.

It was a 90% chance I was going to choose wrong. Fortunately I choose correctly and I was able to test what I needed to test for the meeting for the client that day. If it hadn’t worked, they probably would have dropped me as a consultant.

Part of being an IT person is finding a way to make unsupported things happen.
