Have you ever had the experience that a second recruiter contacts you about the same job a previous recruiter did? I have and here is what happens.
First you tell them that you have already been contacted about this job and submitted. If you get submitted by two recruiters, I have been told your application is removed.
However there are times that the first recruiter didn’t ask for permission or tell you that they were going to submit you. I had this happen to me. He kept hammering me about salary, and I was frank with him. I guess he didn’t want to pay in the range of what I wanted, so he didn’t submit me. Just brushed me off with a further I’ll get back to you. And didn’t.
A week later another recruiter contacted me about the same position. He says he is going to submit me and when he asks about salary I tell him the same as the first. He doesn’t have a problem with it, and in fact shares with me that the first two people they interviewed were too junior and they needed someone with more experience. He also said that the rate was originally posted in the 50s/hr and that they weren’t happy with the knowledge and experience of those candidates. So he submitted me significantly more than I asked for. He said that they need someone with more experience like me. I agree.
