If you have Windows 10/11 Quick assist is a useful remote access tool. You will be familiar with it if you ever have to work with Microsoft to fix issues that companies have.
It is the most straightforward thing to get access to another Microsoft computer in my opinion. You put in a code that is generated in the app on the other computer to confirm and then you get view access. you can get control access when the other computer grants it.
Now there are some disadvantages and some advantages to using it. First it needs to be renewed each hour with a popup asking if you are still using it. Second it is a little slower than other remote access apps I have used. Not a big deal with the game that I play, but if your game requires reflexes this isn’t the solution.
What are the pros? Lots of them. It is free, it is already installed so super easy to use, and it has the best screen quality of any remote access app I have used. I have used plenty of them lately and it was the most clear and the most exactly like sitting in front of the computer itself. That is why I can accept the slower nature of how it works. When it is pushing that high quality screen, its going to be slower. I like that it doesn’t seem to compress it on the local home network that I have.
Right now this is my remote access tool of choice. It has the most important quality which it is free and I feel more trustworthy with Microsoft than with some random company I don’t know. I’m not saying that Microsoft is trustworthy, but they have less incentive to try to abuse me than a random company who might need the money. In life everything is a trade off.
