In the last few days

Why the new things? I needed them.
I needed a new cell phone charger because my job sent me a phone with a rugged case on it and it was difficult to reliably charge with my existing charger. Now it works great and so easy.
Why the emergency backup? I changed my banking information with the electrical company and I was afraid that because it was also my auto pay taking effect that it might have a billing issue and they would turn off the electricity. I had to change my banking information then because I am switching banks and I needed to get my paycheck in that account.
Right now I am running off of an emergency backup generator that I gave to a friend. The friend used it and gave it back to me so that was helpful for today.
I’m actually pretty impressed with it. With my two laptops and the charging of the two full iPhones, it says it will last 10 hours before it empties. My work day will be done before that and I will have it charging and refill it and then put it aside for an emergency.
I looked at UPS devices to protect the expensive projector that I have, and I found one that I liked for about $230. I was concerned when I read a review and multiple people saying that it had caught on fire for them. I haven’t had the best success with consumer level cheap UPS. I have tried most of the brands and for me they haven’t been worth it.
Now one option I have is to try a more expensive UPS that costs about $300 and is a higher quality device. I am leaning toward buying that, but once I get my first paycheck. I don’t want to overspend. Once I use that I will write and share my experience with it.
Anyway I am grateful that the electricity hasn’t been shut off. My friend said that I was been too worried. They said they forgot to pay the bill one month and the next month it had the previous months total and she said they didn’t shut her off for lack of payment. I don’t want to take the chance. Part of me has thought about the idea of prepaying for services like some rich people do. It would be a luxury to only have to deal with bills once a year instead of each month. It am still mulling over the idea.
