I used to visit people at their homes as part of a job that I once did.
Why am I sharing this? It is because they would call me to come by and fix their work laptop/home office setup. There were a few times I wasn’t sure what to do.
For example, one day I was called by a gentleman and then showed up at his home. I had been there many times before. However this time when he opened the door he was standing there in his underwear and it felt awkward for me. I went in and did the work while he got dressed.
Another time I was called and I had been to this woman house before as well. I went with my male coworker who also had the same job as me, and when we got there the woman was wearing more revealing pajamas that I felt comfortable with. I was so glad that my other coworker was there so I had a witness.
Now most of the time my clients would be fully dressed and professional. At times being in someone else home was awkward because I saw things that I rather wouldn’t have wanted to see. I just kept my mouth shut and pretended I didn’t see it.
For this reason I don’t want to visit people in their homes again. I don’t think people know what are good boundaries with service people.
