Last Saturday I went on a walk in NYC and it really hurt my feet and legs. It was time to buy new shoes.
I read lots of reviews and choose the Hoka Arahi 7. Mostly because I have been wearing their sandals for years and loved them for their comfort. However I did consider other brands, but it wasn’t enough benefit to justify trying them.
In the Hoka line the Cliftons 9 also had high praise. Higher praise for comfort than the Arahi 7. However that was more for runners with the lighter weight, and I will be unlikely to do significant running.
I got them today and walked around and they are better than I expected. I expected at least the sandal level of comfort, but it was more. It had a nice feel to them. I don’t get excited about shoes but I was excited about getting these pair of shoes. I am going to go walk longer on Saturday and see if I get tired, but based on todays experience I doubt it.
Today I will be breaking them in around the house and to me they feel as light as the Hoka Sandals I wear. I didn’t need to use a shoehorn to get in them and the width was perfect for me. Partly because I had read the reviews and did a half size increase because people said they found the shoes too narrow for them. Normally I buy a 9 but I got a 9.5 and it feels great. Reviewers also complained that the toe area was too small, but they probably didn’t size up their shoe size. I have less than a half inch of space and everything feels good. No pain at all.
I am not selling these but just excited to share something that I know is going to help me. If I didn’t like these today I would give them away and buy the Clifton’s, even though they have a 30 day money back guarantee. I don’t want to take advantage of companies return policies because I am unreasonably picky. Plus I like giving things to people. It makes you feel good.
I might buy the Clifton’s in the future, but for now, these are perfect for me.
