Lazy recruiters are frustrating

It is frustrating to deal with people who should know how do to their jobs but don’t.

One of the frustrating things that people who are looking for jobs find is that no matter what their resume is, it isn’t enough. You can have it written by a professional, keywords appropriate to your skill level, and gives a taste of who you are but its not good enough.

I had a recruiter once that once I sent him my resume, he told me a new requirement that the company wanted to see 10 years of my history. Ten years of my history would be a 15 page resume, and that is something no one wants to see. I told him like I have told countless others, that all of my experience was available in my LinkedIn profile and they could easily download it in one click if they wanted to.

I downloaded it in one click and send him a resume that was 10 pages. Lets see how he likes sending that resume to the client. Recruiters complain that if your resume is more than a few pages they aren’t going to read it. So you can’t ask someone to do the impossible. You can’t ask for a short resume that includes 10 years. The math don’t math.

What a recruiter should do is this and actually work for their salary. I don’t mind being a team getting me a job, but when lazy recruiters can’t do anything I don’t want to work with them. Increasingly I choose not to work with them.
