Keyboard comfort is surprisingly important

I was thinking today what I wanted to share and my wrists did the talking. They said talk about why we are happier.

My wrists are happier because with the HP OmniBook they aren’t getting dug into with a sharp edge like the MSI had.

In addition the thickness of the laptop is smaller so in addition to less pressure on my wrists it is more comfortable overall.

Since the keys are also in standard positions unlike the MSI it makes less errors when typing which is nice.

I had bought third party keyboards like the one above but the height of the keys make it more work to use. I like having flat keys and that means that while my typing instructor wouldn’t be happy, I certainly am.

The MSI keyboard always kind of bothered me since I bought it, but I just figured I could deal with it. I have dealt with it, but now that I have something better it is nice to use.

Part of the reason of buying the HP was also that my past consulting company sent me a HP EliteBook which is similar in how the OmniBook looks and functions. I liked using it and so even though the last laptop I bought was a Dell, I thought I would go back to an HP.

Now if it seems I am buying laptops left and right it is because one of my laptops broke and I needed a backup. I also needed to buy another laptop because I was connecting to several companies, and had to enroll in one for MDM protection. So you can image that having multiple companies that I was using the same laptop might cause issues. I didn’t want it to be a problem and I wanted to separate things so that why I bought this newest HP.

When you work sometimes for an MSP who often subcontracts you to another MSP, and then you have to connect to the clients systems and you may have a second client as well, well I think you can see that multiple laptops become a necessity.

I am always getting new laptops and I have two on the way for my latest client. I have no idea what they will be and frankly it doesn’t matter. The only reason I share these thoughts is that for some people these details matter in a personal laptop. At work you just have to use what they offer.

However right now for me, a Mac or HP laptop is the most comfortable.
