iPad’s and small screens cause eye problems

“Right that’s my laptop, my laptop charger…my kindle, my kindle charger….my iPhone, my iPhone charger…my iPad, my iPad charger…all my spare batteries and spare chargers…hmm, I don’t seem to have any room for my clothes…”

I went to my eye doctor yesterday for a checkup and because my eyes were red. I learned many things.

One of the things she said is that when you focus on things close to you, it strains your eyes. I learned this long ago and bought larger screens to reduce this. Now with a projector my eyes feel better than they ever have.

However I do play Marvel Strike Force on the iPad and now I am questioning that decision. Not only because of the things going on in the game that aren’t player friendly, but because of learning that just using an iPad/tablet is straining my eyes.

I’m not afraid to make bold decisions to improve my life. On one hand I have clear evidence that it contributes to the eye redness. On the other hand is that I also have the problem with my iPhone and that has the same issue as the iPad. Its small screen is a strain and while I avoid doing anything on it, I can’t get rid of the iPhone so easily.

So what seems clear to me is that I should use the iPhone/iPad as little as possible to protect my eyes. This means that I will need to get an emulator to play Strike Force with. Many content creators talk about the ones they use. With this, I can connect it to my projector screen and not have the eye strain. I looked at doing this earlier but I got distracted. Today I will make this happen.

Being healthy is a choice, and it often requires us to change our behaviors. From now on the iPad is not something that I will be choosing to use.
