Investigating VR equipment

I have been investigating VR equipment lately. Why? It might help a client.

No they aren’t going to play games or use the Apple Vision. They might have a business use for the Hololens2, and that is the argument/white paper that I wrote for them.

You see for some companies that work in the field, a Hololens can pay for itself with the saved travel costs to the end client location. It can be used also as a help desk way, and offers additional use cases beside this.

I have never personally used or bought any kind of VR gear. I have seen the reviews and although they look neat, the takeoffs are too high for my personal use. It doesn’t help that since I have glasses, at least in the past, it required additional cost and work. However as a consultant, I have to look at products through the lens of the customer and if there is a business justification for it, then I have to suggest it.

Even though the price of these devices is around $3500 it could save a company money when there is a use case for it. No matter what your personal opinion of technology is, almost everything can help someone. Just because a product isn’t for you, doesn’t make it worthless.

Will the client buy it? Again I only present a use case, and it is up to them to decide if they want it. HoloLens2 still feels rough, and it would be an impossible sell for my personal use.
