You can have fun in interviews.

For example I once had an interview where the person seemed to like my answers and smiled. They gave me good feedback and when I was done I had asked if there was anything that I said or did that make her wonder about my ability to do the position. I like to try to tackle any objections head on.

She said no you can do the position, and complimented me on selling myself and presenting myself well. This isn’t to brag, but rather when you have enough interviews you learn what people want to hear and what gives you a unique selling point in the market.

Now when you first start, interviewing can be very stressful and boring. It can still be that way. However there are times where the interviewers want to help you, and that makes the entire process more fun for everyone. I have to be honest. I had two interviews this week and they couldn’t have been more different. The first one was a stress interview, and then this one which was the opposite of a stress interview. I would not take the first job just because stress interviews aren’t fair to neurodivergent people. I would immediately work for the one who wanted to help me.

Hiring managers the best people choose who they work for. The harder you make the process, the less likely they will choose you.
