One of the most touching episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation is called “The Inner Light”. The idea of living a life in a dream is such a compelling vision.
I have shared that I have had meaningful dreams before. Dreams teach. They have taught me many things. The entire point of writing this is to share a dream that I had that might be of interest to you.
I dreamt I was in a shop full of mirrors. However, when I looked in the mirror I could only see from my waist upwards. The bottom part of my body didn’t exist. I was puzzled about this and asked the employee in the store why I couldn’t see the bottom part of my body. She said, “You know why you can’t see it.” I couldn’t think of a reason. I woke up and thought about what this dream might mean.
I talked to my mentor about it and she suggested that it was part of myself that I was ignoring. I agreed with her assessment. Sometimes the meaning of dreams is literal and honest, and other times you have to consider the metaphor it is using. Eventually, the answer does appear.
It helped me that I did lucid dreaming for a while where I would be aware I was in a dream and act consciously. Randomly I realize it is a dream and have fun. It is really more helpful however to allow part of yourself to speak to yourself so I try to listen to what part of me is saying.
Yes, it might sound strange to read this, but it really is helpful. It’s ok if you don’t believe in what I described. Sometimes in life, you just have to try things and not be convinced if they are true or will work or not. I think life is about trying different things and seeing what works for you.
