Why am I increasing using ChatGPT in writing? It saves time from having to summarize it myself.
A day ago I wrote a post about history and I used ChatGPT to do it. It listed all of the problems that we have had in history for people who forgot history.
ChatGPT is very good at summarizing things. It has helped me in the past with scientific articles that were too long to practically read based on my interest level on the topic. For a non scientist like myself, it can be time consuming to read journal and scientific articles. However ChatGPT and others can summarize things nicely and then you verify if that meaning is what others understood of the work.
I never trust any output from ChatGPT. I read it over and consider it and fact check it. While it is fast and generally trustworthy, I have to put my name on it and I won’t be lazy intellectually and look like a fool later.
What I have seen is that people who don’t care about facts are more than happy to slap the output of ChatGPT into articles and claim they wrote it. Or don’t disclose the fact that they are not experts but portray themselves as experts. What I am good at is IT and a few subjects in IT. Otherwise you should not trust what I say on any topic.
I think critical thinking skills will be the key employee skill in the future. Lots of information is available, but very few facts and little wisdom.
