It is frustrating to look through YouTube shorts and find it harder to find unique content.
This is not to complain but rather state that I am considering pivoting to just going back to writing posts. While I have learned many things from Shorts, the garbage to learning ratio is terrible and I am spending more time to find increasingly less useful things.
Part of the problem is that Shorts loves to show you content that you have already seen. I would estimate that now they have cranked it up to 90% of what you have already seen. That means that for each video I shared here I might have to go through 10 or more videos to find it.
The real time cost is that it can take too much time to find each piece of content. In addition I see lots of garbage that I don’t want to see, and wish I didn’t know. So the benefit of finding treasure is that their is too much trash to sort through.
I get that the unknown nature of short videos can be addictive, but I have been thoroughly cured of that addiction. It means more to my life to write thoughtful content, than to work to find shorts.
