Improving processes at work starts with you

Repeatedly I have worked at companies and the process of becoming a useful employee has been a job in itself.

Of course this is unnecessary. The problem is that no one wanted to work on this issue. Part of my success at companies has been that I start to fix what no one else cared about, and that made things better for everyone.

As part of IT you touch on many other departments. Mostly HR, recruiting and legal. You have to understand why they need certain technology support and give them something that allows them to do their jobs.

Its not always fun to explore the grey and unknown areas of a company. No one wants to talk about it because they are afraid they might be asked to do it. I have found by taking ownership you tend to ally fears. Ultimately you can come to a better process.

If you don’t mind being the guinea pig, you can test processes out on yourself and then make things better for everyone.
