I watched a 3D movie about Dolphins during my vacation. It was interesting.
One of the things that it said is that the dorsal fin of dolphins is how they are identified. It showed a technician in front of a computer verifying this with the computer doing the hard work and the tech just verifying that the image identification is correct.
It turns out that more than a million dolphins are in that database all identified by the nicks or injuries to their dorsal fin. Then it hit me. Their imperfections are their identity and it the same for humans.
We are are unique because of the imperfections from our environment and the unique ways we have responded to it. We love each other not because we are perfect, but because we are beautifully flawed in a way that makes most of us strive to be more helpful than we were before.
Now of course there are always people who are jerks, but I believe that most people want to love and be loved. Maybe they have their own issues that prevent that, but if we aren’t loved we need to be honest and ask ourselves why. If we can’t find the answer, then seeing someone can help us and everyone around us.
Its ok to be imperfect. In fact, being human makes imperfection a requirement.
