Apparently 2MB files are too big for Copilot. So it says “This file will be chunked”.
The downside to this is although it says it tries to break it down into smaller chunks, it will never successfully complete. I have never had a chunking operation work.
Then it says I need to manually split the file. Well that is a problem because then it complains that it can’t upload the file later when it says the memory is overrun.
So on one hand you can do what it says and then it fails later, or not do what it says and try something new.
If Copilot seems to get stuck in analyzing something starting a new chat is the way to fix this. It is almost impossible to get ChatGPT to understand where it went wrong because it isn’t transparent with what it is doing. Copilot Analyst is more transparent, but the sheer number of operations that it shows you it is doing in the backend is both overwhelming and sometimes helpful to see.
Another strange quirk is that it seems to forget the file that it is working with and might ask you to upload it every minute or few minutes while working with analyzing the file. Its best to not delete any files in this process because there is a very high chance Copilot will have deleted it but need it to continue to analyze.
Its kind of both fascinating and disturbing how often Copilot has errors. While I have been using it it seems to have as many errors as ChatGPT. For example it output one version of the file that was close to what I wanted, and when I asked it to slightly change it, it couldn’t do that. Now I am doing a second attempt and running into almost the same situation. How can it work once, and then refuse to even try it again? It is so frustratingly inconsistent currently.
