When you don’t know what to do and feel stressed, crying is a great option.
I had a doctor tell me this once and it really works. I think that people don’t cry enough and that why they are so angry and mean.
Society tells us that we have to be like Bill Murray. Cool and funny no matter what happens. Sure that can be fun sometimes, but its also important to be in touch with your feelings and be honest in how you feel.
There is a balance in life between being a crybaby who is passive, and someone who never cries and buries their emotions. I rarely see other men cry. However as an HSP you can’t avoid not feeling sad and crying.
One of the advantages to being an HSP is that it forces you to deal with your emotions. You can’t avoid them and you can’t bury them. You have to accept and make peace that sometimes you will be hurt, and its ok to cry and let that pain go.
I once joked with a doctor when he asked if I did anything to excess as part of the process of getting to know me as a new patient. I joked that I probably cried too much and he very seriously responded and said that expressing yourself is a sign of a healthy person, and people who don’t turn that stress into illness and early death.
When I watch some YouTube videos that are touching I have no problems crying. I am not a rock and of course I should cry when I see certain things. Sometimes its because I feel bad knowing the situation, and sometimes it is because I feel good. Once the feeling passes you can move on and not try to fight the chemistry of being human.
Crying is human. If you don’t remember when you last cried, you are overdue.
