I like to watch videos of people constructing bush craft survival shelters. These are shelters that use the materials in nature to make something that you can live in.
Why would I care about this? Its interesting to get ideas and to learn techniques if the end of the world comes. If not, I see some beautiful structures and creative ideas and I certainly benefit from seeing another side to life.
One of the things that I shared before is that some of these bush craft survival shelters are used by poor people in countries that are poverty stricken. So I have seen some very sad situations of people living in poverty because of watching this which is unfortunate and something that I wish I could help with.
I grew up in an area of survivalists and while I appreciate being prepared and have a 72 hour kit, I haven’t bought more materials than that. There is a kit for several thousand dollars that would be the next step and have things like a tent/sleeping bags and so on but I am not at that level and living in an apartment it is hard to store those kind of items due to space.
As I grow I move further away from the idea that things are going to save me. Having skills may or may not save me, but these videos at the very least educate me what the skills are. I am not saying that there is going to be an end to the world, but I like to be prepared for any eventuality.
One of those eventualities is that I will continue to survive in society and use my Social Security or savings to pay for a place to live and exist. We can’t just prepare for the worst we also have to prepare for the best.
