Humidifier broke and working with company

I just bought a humidifier from a company that had good customer service in the past. I expect that things will go well again.

It was only a week that I had the humidifier and the display on it stopped working while it was in use. It will show briefly when it is turned off/on.

I sent the company a picture of the serial number to prove that I was the owner and it was a valid product. They asked for a video and details about where I purchased it from. It was a major retailer and I provided all of the information they requested. In fact I took a second video because I wasn’t thrilled with the quality of the first one.

Now I am waiting to see what they will do. Ideally sending a replacement and then they will ask me to cut the cord and send a picture to them. Which I am happy to do.

I considered spending $140 on their top of the line humidifier but now I am not so sure.

I shared that this same company had an electric heater that broke on me. When I worked with customer service they had me cut the cord and send in a pic and sent me a replacement. While it is great they stand behind their product, it does make you concerned if every product you have tried from them has an issue.

For that reason alone I didn’t repurchase the heater when I moved to my new apartment. I gave it to my friend because I wanted to try something new. The new American product was $20 more expensive but so far it has worked well. Time will tell if it is more reliable than that brand.

Is a brand that replaces their broken things a brand that you would support? I am really questioning if it is worth the time to engage with them and just try another brand and avoid them altogether. It is probably no surprise this is a Chinese company but it was the best of all the humidifiers that were available to me to purchase. I had had several humidifiers in the past and they have all been unreliable. I hate that things are made so cheaply.
